1. Who we are

Eidetic ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal AI memory engine for Android, developed and operated in Gurugram, India. Our website is eidetic.in.

2. What data we collect

Eidetic collects only the data necessary to provide its core functionality — scanning, indexing, and retrieving your documents.

• Document images — compressed copies of documents you scan or import, stored on your device only
• Extracted text and metadata — text, summaries, and tags extracted from your documents, stored on your device only in encrypted form
• Location data — GPS coordinates captured at scan time if you grant permission, stored on your device only
• Chat history — your questions and the app's answers, stored on your device only in encrypted form
• Your name — entered optionally in Settings for the personalised greeting, stored on your device only and never transmitted
• App settings — your preferences, stored on your device only

We do not collect your email address, device identifiers, or usage analytics during early access. No account is required to use Eidetic in its current form. Account registration will be introduced at public launch to support subscription management, payments, and personalisation features.

3. How we process your documents

When you scan or import a document, Eidetic sends the document content to third-party AI processing partners to perform text recognition and analysis. This is the only time your data leaves your device.

Document content is sent to these partners solely to process your request and is not used for any other purpose.

4. Crash and error reporting

Eidetic uses a third-party crash reporting service. If the app encounters an unexpected error, a technical report is sent containing information about the error, device type, OS version, and app version. These reports do not contain your document content, images, or personal information.

5. Location data

Eidetic requests location permission to tag your scanned documents with where they were captured. Location is captured only at the moment of scanning — not continuously in the background. You can decline location permission and the app works fully without it. For gallery imports, location may be extracted from the photo's embedded metadata if available.

6. Device permissions

Eidetic requests the following permissions, each used only for its stated purpose:

• Camera — to scan documents
• Photo library — to import existing images
• Microphone — for voice input, which is transcribed via our AI processing partners and stored as text on your device. The audio itself is discarded immediately after transcription.
• Calendar — optional, to create reminders from scanned documents if you choose to connect it
• Location — optional, to tag documents with where they were scanned

7. Data storage and security

All your documents, extracted text, and metadata are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. Your data is tied to your specific device installation — uninstalling the app permanently deletes all stored memories. We cannot access your data remotely. Cloud backup is a future optional paid feature.

8. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except as described in this policy. We will disclose data if required by applicable law.

9. Children's privacy

Eidetic is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you have concerns, contact us at support@eidetic.in.

10. Your rights

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control at all times. You can delete individual memories from the Library screen, or clear all memories from Settings. Continued use of the app after any changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. When we make significant changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
